Wellsprings
Psychotherapy & Consultation is an evolving enterprise encompassing
a number of projects, including "Journey," the "SAM Project,"
and "Building Bridges."
Journey,
the therapy component, was first established in Philadelphia, PA. With
support and encouragement from Childhelp USA, PLEA, the City of Philadelphia
Department of Social Services, local media and others, individual, couple,
family, and group sexual abuse treatment services were developed and
made accessible to residents of the tri-state area, and subsequently
to residents in Tallahassee, FL, Boston, MA and Asheville, NC.
The
SAM (Sexual Abuse of Males) Project is a young venture dedicated
to understanding the etiology, dynamics and effects of childhood sexual
abuse, in general, and the sexual abuse of boys, in particular. The
SAM Project asserts that neither gender is exempt from either rolethe
abuser or the abusedand that the dissemination of facts, rather
than mythology, is critical to understanding, treating, and preventing
this biopsychosocial reality, a reality that far too often is shrouded
in silence.
And
Building Bridges is the newest addition, with a mission to help
individuals, families and groups explore, identity and put into action
their life purpose, particularly in the areas of love, work, and service
to others. Every single life has purpose and meaning. Every individual
has unique gifts and skills. A primary objective of Building Bridges
is to provide the knowledge and skillthe toolsfor people
to live a life on purpose, where they can discover their place in this
world, where they have the opportunity to learn and grow, and where
they use their unique gifts and skills to help others along the way.
